How do I get CHAS accredited

Following the guidance notes on the CHAS application form will ensure you gather up all the required evidence to support your application

Under 5 Employees - Step by Step Guide

I WANT CHAS NOW will help you with gaining CHAS accreditation. CHAS (Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme) is a scheme run by the Government.

For a company with under 5 employees wishing to achieve CHAS accreditation the process can be quite simple.

You will need to download the correct application form from the CHAS website. Once you have that you will need to fill in the form and gather up the required evidence to send in with your application form. Many applicants simply fill in the form and do not send in the correct evidence, which can lead to a costly re-assessment fee.

Generally the evidence required for an under 5 CHAS application is as follows;

  • 2 Site Specific Risk Assessments
  • 2 Site Specific Method Statements
  • 2 COSHH Assessments
  • Evidence of Asbestos awareness training
  • Sample copies of training certificates and records for employees
  • Evidence of your assessment process for sub-contractors (if applicable)

For a company with under 5 employees this evidence may or may not already be in place. If it is not you will need to implement new systems within your company to ensure these items are completed, and that you carry on completing them throughout the year ready for your re-application in 12 months.
